El Cid
Diaz Vivar, or later known as "El Cid," was born around the year of 1042 and later on died the king of Valencia in 1099. His name "El Cid was given to him by the Arabs through the mixed language of the Arabs and the Spanish all though he was more commonly known as campeador or Champion. He became a soldier/servant of the current Spanish kings son. When the king died, he split his kingdom up into all of his sons and daughters. Since El Cid was the servant of the oldest relative, he had to embark in his lords conflicts since he at first thought he would inherit everything. He first started his conquest of Spain in battles against the Arabs which also controlled part of Spain at the time. Due to El Cids might in battle he was appointed the "commander of the Royal Armies" at age 23. He waged ware with his lord after that until the moment when waging war with one of the sisters that his lord was killed at the gates of the stronghold in 1072. One of the Brothers then took over the land that El Cid had helped conquer. He was luckily spared but later on banished from the kingdom. He sought a new kingdom to stay in and found the current Muslim rulers of Northern Spain which accepted his services due to the stories of his success in battle. The kingdom that he had been exiled from then went under siege. He was recalled from exile were he didn't stay long. He then let the war weaken the city of Valencia at which point he later took it over. He ruled there until his death when the city was attacked by Arabic leaders.
